What is it about rivers?

Last night, after spending the evening with my branching making blankets, eating cookies, and just enjoying each others company, I found myself not wanting to return home quite yet. I drove past my apartment to a small part by the Seneca River. I could have stayed there all night just thinking.

I am not sure what it is about rivers that I love, but I always seem to be able to think so clearly when I stand on their shores and just take a time-out from life. I love how in the East, rivers have thick walls of green trees hanging over the banks. When I moved to NY I made a list of things I wanted in the area that I moved. A river was one of them. Each one of my bike rides takes me out away from the city and along the river, partly for the scenic side of things, but partly because the slow-moving rivers of the east mesmerize me. My mind is clearer, sharper, and more at ease than almost any other time in my life, save the temple and other spiritual experiences.

If I do move back to Utah, this is one thing I will surely miss.

Ever read Wind in the Willows? One of my all-time favorite books. Sounds like you're a river rat to me.
