I just saw this video on a biking blog I read and was surprised by the tone. Here you are, faced with a disease that has no face but has the power to kill you, and you want to pick a fight with it? You want to take a blob of cells and humanize it just so you can talk trash? Last time i checked, in the fight against cancer...cancer was winning. Not because of the numbers, but because it isn't even consciously trying to defeat expensive, emotional efforts to take it down.
This reminded me however of something I yelled at Satan once. After just being dumb and making the same old mistakes all over again. I had taken some time to repent, reflect and figure out how to be better. In a fit of frustration with myself and full of determination not to lose again, I said under my breath, "Bring it on Satan!" In that same moment, I realized what I had said. Here is a dude that has a lot of help to accomplish his sole purpose of making me fall. Now, here I was telling him to "Bring it on"? I have no power against that sort of force.
If I was going to use any sort of cliche with an unseen being it probably should have been, "Heavenly Father, let's do this."
I don't know if talking to cancer is a bad thing, I've never had it. However, I have seen a lot of good come from cancer (doesn't outweight the bad, of course). Maybe we could say, "Thanks for the stuff I have learned from you cancer. My life will never be the same. But, I think it is time we say goodbye so I can start fully applying the lessons I have learned."
I dunno, maybe I would get mad if I had cancer...I hope I never have to find out.

I too hope you never have to find out, but you have seen cancer pretty close. But remember, "it is not what happens to you but what you do with what happens to you". You can accomplish anything with
God's at your side, and a wonderful family! And you can have a positive experience in a negative situtation. Thanks for all you did/do for me sonshine!
