I have always known there are 5 basic points where great ideas come...one of these was shared with my brother & sister-in-law just a few days ago.
The shower.
Now, this fact has been confirmed by none other than Jack Ryan. Yes, the famed Tom Clancy character that shouldn't be alive after all he's been though, yet somehow is, kinda like me. Although I shouldn't be alive after all thats been through me...close enough.
Anyways, in "The Hunt for Red October", a great film i've seen once or twice, Jack is in the shower trying to figure out how to get an entire soviet sub crew off their nuclear boat. That's when the solution comes. In the shower. Just like i've been saying all along.

I thought the other major bathroom fixture was your primary location for epiphanies?
One time the Lord totally inspired me with how to fix a work problem when I was in the shower. I will never get over how clearly I saw in my mind exactly what row of data and what numbers were the problem. That's really the only time that has happened to me in the shower though.
It's so true! However, my hair-drying/straightening/curling process is more time-consuming, so that's when my lightbulbs usually pop up. I prepare my class lessons for the week, mull over preschool ideas, and compose emails while I battle my hair. I guess muses haunt bathrooms. (Thank you, Gregg & Jack Ryan!)
@farrers, oh...it's top five, but shower always has been number 1.
@vickie, by the mouth of two or three witnesses...
@heather, make that four...
I've wondered for years why this happens, but it does for me too. I've called it a "stream of thought" - a rush of productive, positive ideas accompanied by a peaceful enthusiasm. Here's a blogger who has some theories:

When I googled "ideas in the shower" all I got was a collection of cute suggestions for a successful bridal shower. It is not a man's world.
